RHS v Woodbridge Junior 1st vs Woodbridge (Lost 4-1) The junior 1st team looked to put their disappointing start to the season behind them against Woodbridge on Wednesday. RHS v Saint Felix School – Tuesday 19 January RHS 2nd VII v Saint Felix: W 31-9 RHS immersed themselves in their match against Saint Felix straight from the start, building up an 11-1 lead in the first quarter with good attacking play from Lottie Jordan and Maddy Gardiner. Congratulations to Toby Buckland, Year 12, who was selected for the Lambs U18 National Team on Sunday; although only 16 himself, after playing in the North v South Lambs final trial at Loughborough University. Toby will play in a number of the seven domestic Lambs games this season against representative opposition. Ellie Hewes, Year 8, represented girls’ U17 Essex Junior Squash last weekend in Nottingham. She played string 3 in the team of 5 and they became National Runners-Up to Yorkshire. Ben Haywood, Year 7, has become one of the youngest junior judo players in the country to reach Brown Belt. Ben has been awarded the 16th Mon by the British Judo Association, becoming one of just three 12 year olds to achieve this through the British Judo Association. On three university sailing teams, three senior RHS teams and, for the first time ever, an RHS staff team took to a very cold but beautify bright Alton Water reservoir for the first Suffolk shiver Team Racing Regatta. Congratulations to the Year 13 pupils who recently sat their IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examinations with some fantastic results. Shila Sadeghi Kaji from Iran scored a magnificent 8.5 with maximum marks in the Listening Section. She was followed closely by Mari Devadze and Mariam Matikashvili, both from Georgia, with maximum marks in the Speaking Section and Pablo Alcolea Martinez from Spain; all with scores of 8. Essex County Cricket Club stalwart Graham Napier has announced his plans to retire from the professional game at the end of the 2016 season. Napier will take up a role at the Royal Hospital School (RHS), Suffolk, as Director of the Graham Napier Cricket Academy at RHS, as his 19 year First-Class career with the County draws to a close.
