Junior 1st vs Ipswich (L 1-4) The junior 1st team lost 4-1 to Ipswich School on Wednesday. Luke Tickle scored for RHS in the first half, but the boys still went into the break 3-1 down. In the second half, some lovely stick skills from the entire team made the game a much more even contest. On Wednesday 11 February 30 lucky pupils got the chance to see Grayson Perry lecture on his life and work, at the National Portrait Gallery. There were some fantastic results from RHS pupils at one the most prestigious events in the cross country calendar, the Wellington Relays, on 7 February with our Intermediate Girls coming 3rd overall. At home on the same day, the Anglian Championships saw thousands of people on site and hundreds of runners taking part. On Friday 6 February Music Scholars at the Royal Hospital School show cased a variety of performances from from Jessie J to Vivaldi. The concert was held in the Burns Recital Hall and was keenly supported by parents, pupils and members of the public. First XV Captain, George Butt, will be joining Toby Eaton playing for the Lambs U18 National Squad for the rest of this season. George has been talent spotted by the Lambs Forwards Coach to ‘do all the dirty work up front!’ The National Squad is selected from independent schools across the country who do not represent any academy sides. The Royal Hospital School would like to thank Hill & Abbott Solicitors of Chelmsford for their generous donation of 3,000 towards the RHS 2015 School Cricket Tour to Barbados. U15 and U14 cricket teams will depart for Barbados in April to play five matches each and undergo some cricket coaching with former West Indian Test players. U14A v New Hall (L 22-43) The Under 14A team suffered a hard loss against New Hall on Monday. After a slow start, the RHS team found it difficult to get their heads into the game throughout the first quarter. A quick team talk and some positional changes meant that the team took to the court in better spirits at quarter time. U13A v Langley (W 5-0) The under 13A team were successful against Langley this week with a 5-0 win. The team started well and kept possession throughout. Some fantastic defence from Freya Guckian and Charlotte Stenning left Langley unable to secure a goal against a strong RHS defensive unit. Although RHS won the game, some inconsistency in the shooting circle reduced the possible goal difference RHS could have achieved. In all the team played well and demonstrated their versatility... 1st VII v Norwich High (W 31-27) The first VII had a well contested match against Norwich High on Tuesday, yet RHS proved the stronger team with the home advantage and secured a win against the Norwich side. Some great circle movement between Josie Falk and Anna Wynn brought their training into practice, and demonstrated the strength of their attacking unit. U13C v Norwich High (L 2-18) The under 13C team had an unfortunate game against Norwich high this week, losing by a number of goals. Despite some fantastic team work throughout the court and some good passing, the Norwich side proved more experienced in the game, and stormed to a 10-1 lead after the first half.
