A busy final week at RHS which saw all fixtures played midweek against various schools in and around the area. It has been a successful first half term for RHS across all age groups with a 72% success ratio. In the last week of this half of term the Royal Hospital School hosted the initial stage of the Suffolk Area Schools Cross Country Trials. This was a huge event with more than 1500 runners. Of the 90 RHS pupils who took part across the age groups and categories, an impressive 35 qualified for the next round. The 9-strong Royal Marines CCF Cadets Pringle Team spent the weekend at the Commando Training Centre at Lympstone, competing with 17 other teams for the Pringle Trophy. Led by Cameron Fairrie, the RHS team produced the best all round team performance for many years. 1st XI vs New Hall (L 1-2) RHS were left feeling deflated after letting their lead slip and narrowly losing to New Hall in a mid-week clash. Congratulations to two Royal Hospital boys on their selection into the Independent Schools RFC or Lambs U13 East Midlands squad. The boys, Luke Clark-Smith and Hamish Comonte, were successful in the trials held at Orwell Park and now both go on to represent the East Midlands at Bilton Grange at the end of half term. The penultimate week of fixtures in a busy first half term at RHS. With CCF taking precedent this weekend all fixtures were played midweek around East Anglia. The RHS Equestrian Team had their first outing of the academic year at the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) One Day Event at Poplar Park on 28 September. Suffolk held its annual youth sevens at the Royal Hospital School on 28 September, with two competitions at each of four age groups, on 9 pitches. Over 600 boys in 52 teams from 12 clubs took part in a competition that encompasses the potential premiership player to the beginner.
